The WMA provides an international platform for musicologists and literary scholars who study the relations between verbal texts and music, regardless of their theoretical framework. 

Since its inception in 1997, WMA has promoted interdisciplinary scholarly inquiry into words and music principally in two ways: our biennially-held international conferences and our book series Word and Music Studies (WMS), published by Brill/Rodopi.
